All gospel, no choir

PNXIii – The Short Ones

It would seem that strange times call for things to get outside of normal (whatever that is). In keeping with this there came to be a second virtual meeting of the SCPC, numbers were reduced due to dimensional instability but the important thing is that it occurred, which concurred with its occurrence. Natch.

3 names went into the Fez Of Choosing and when they appeared they delivered the following….

UT – Everything Everything ‘Arc’

FS – Blackfield ‘Welcome To My DNA’

PC – Kevin Ayers ‘Whatevershebringswesing’

Points to note – UT utterly failed in the pizza department, Flat Sky had all the recorders in the room (small, bigger, biggest) and Cheersie’s  kazoo playing needs work.

Without consulting the archive I’d say that none of artists have appeared at a PN before which is nice. The left field doozy provided by Pete Cheers featured some back door Mike as well as some farmyard style instrument abuse of high quality. At some point he’s gonna run out of these hidden gems but so far he keeps them coming!

Also none of the albums were overly long, the longest under 50 minutes and the other two easily fitting on one side of a c90. Is there room for a discussion of quality over quantity?

There has been a part one and a part two to this PNXI, one wonders what will follow next……….
